Microblading: What to Expect

Hair by hair natural look eyebrows!

Welcome to the New Era of Realistic Eyebrows!

Microblading (or eyebrow embroidery) 3D eyebrows is a relatively new, manual method developed in Japan. It is considered to be permanent, as compared to the traditional hairstroke technique. It is done using a very fine blade to deposit pigments into the epidermis/dermis and it´s done manually, with no electric machines or tattoo guns. Because we’re impacting color closer to the surface, the strokes appear crisp and realistic. Your eyebrows could never look so perfect before! And more, they will be water proof and smudge proof.

Microblading eyebrows is a method that is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their natural eyebrows. The results are natural looking, hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of hair present.

People suffering from alopecia, trichotillomania or any other conditions that causes hair loss benefit greatly from eyebrows microblading, as well as people who simply are not happy with their eyebrows. The pigment used in microblading eyebrows has been formulated to match your original eyebrow color, and if the eyebrows are still present, it will blend perfectly into them.

The results are natural and flawless, giving you fuller looking eyebrows. Initially your eyebrows will appear very dark, but will fade significantly over 7-14 day period. It is absolutely crucial to have a touch up done in 6-8 weeks, as it is very difficult to predict how well your skin will retain the pigment.

Microblading eyebrows procedure will make your skin temporarily sensitive, for best results please follow aftercare instructions for the next 7 days:

DO NOT apply makeup to your eyebrow area.

Wash your eyebrows area with anti-bacterial soap and water for the first 24h every 5 hours. This will prevent you from having thick scabbing.

Apply your aftercare ointment with a cotton swab every 2-3 hours or as needed. Remember: the area cannot be completely dry for ate least a week.

DO NOT touch or pick your treated eyebrow area.

DO NOT use soaps, cleansers, creams or makeup, abrasive products, rough towel, etc… on your eyebrows (except first day: you will wash your brows with soap and water at least 3 times)

DO NOT have facial treatments, including brow tinting, tweezing, electrolysis, waxing, threading, for at least 4 weeks after having the procedure done.

Keep your eyebrow area as dry as possible. DO NOT use saunas, steams, baths or other heat treatments.
If you go to the gym, stick to weight lifting and avoid cardio (sweating is not good if you are going through healing process)

NO Tanning and avoid direct sunlight on your eyebrow area. Sun will fade the color way faster.

Healing will take up to 1-2 weeks, and it is perfectly normal for your treated eyebrows to scab. The scabs will fall off within a few days.

It is normal for the color to appear darker and reddish in the first 5-6 days, and then to fade during the two weeks following the treatment.

If an infection occur, seek medical attention.

The sides of your face are different and you may need more strokes on one side comparing to the other side. Few hours later it is likely that one side will be more swollen and that is perfectly normal. Yes, your brows may not look even in the first 4 days. Don´t panic! The technician will always take pictures to check before you leave the studio and once the swelling goes down, your brows will look like “sisters” again.

How long does Microblading Eyebrow procedure take?

Microblading is a 2-step process – usually 45-60 days apart. It is very important to complete both visits.

Step 1: The initial procedure takes 2-3 hours. During this time, a consultation is undertaken, a color tone chosen and initial outline of the procedure area is drawn on for you to approve. Once you are satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry, (please note that our faces are NOT symmetrical, as one side is flatter than the other – eyebrows are sisters not twins), however as Certified Brow Artists, we aim to create as much symmetry and harmony as possible. The permanent pigment is then applied with a hand-held tool and not a machine.
The end result will depend on 50% pigment and 50% healing. We all heal differently, and what works on one client may not be effective on another. This is why a second visit it so important; it corrects any irregularities in color tones, and makes the look permanent.

Step 2: The second stage of the treatment is called a ‘touch up’ and takes approximately 1.5-2 hours. This is scheduled 6-8 weeks after, as it takes that long for the pigment to settle in the skin. It is IMPERATIVE that you complete the touch up treatment, as without it, it will be a job half done and the results will not be good as expected. The touch up gives the client an opportunity to get used to the initial finish before a final touch up consolidates the pigment into the skin, thus preventing fading. Color will have faded significantly in the first 30 days as the skin heals, peels and close. The look of the brows in the first 10 days will be quite undefined and no indication of the finished result.

Step 3: Occasionally a third visit is necessary for certain clients, 6 weeks later again. This is not uncommon.

Will my Microblade Eyebrows look fake?

Absolutely not! Smart Touch Skin Solutions unique eyebrow artistry guarantees soft, natural looking results. When permanent makeup pigment is implanted into the skin, the permanent make-up can appear more natural looking than topically applied cosmetics.

Will Microblading procedure hurt?

Smart Touch Skin Solutions takes every precaution necessary to ensure that the application is as comfortable as possible. A physician-grade topical anesthetic is used for your comfort.

How long is the healing process or recovery?

You do not have to hide from the world until you are healed. Many clients can walk right out the door and they feel very pleased and ready to show off their new eyebrows. Initially stronger in color, your new Microblade Eyebrows will soften to a natural looking, beautiful color in 10-14 days.

When will I see my final results?

A noticeable difference will be readily apparent immediately following your Microblading procedure. Your final results will be visible after the healing process is fully completed, usually 2-3 weeks. Your brows will look 50% lighter in a very natural human shade.

What if I do not like it?

Although Microblading Eyebrows is considered permanent, these procedures do have flexibility in changing color and shape to some extent. Colors will appear darker immediately following the procedure but will soften and lighten during the healing process, please be patient. The healing time is different for each individual. Every pigment inserted in the skin can be removed if needed, but we do our best to avoid fixing of any kind.

How long can I expect Microblading Eyebrows to last?

Microblading Eyebrows is permanent procedure, so they will begin to fade after 12-14 months. In order to keep your brows looking fresh, a touch up is required every 12-18 months. More frequent touch ups may be required if you chose a soft light shade initially, or if you did not follow your aftercare instructions. Permanent micropigmentation is not an exact science, so each client is different. Some clients even find that they would like to look fresh and even come for a touch up after 9-12 months. This is purely a client’s preference.

Are there any side effects during or after Microblading Eyebrows procedure?

Eyebrows may show little effect. This is dependent upon the amount of work performed. Also, some people swell more from minor skin infractions than others.

During the Microblading Eyebrows procedure there may be some minor bleeding. For those who take blood thinners on a daily basis some slight bleeding would be expected. Others show little to no signs of bleeding. Bruising is rare, again if a person is on blood thinners, bruising could occur.

Before booking the appointment be sure that you can be out of blood thinners, OTC pain pills, vitamins, supplements, fish oil… for at least 7 days. We always warn our clients before they come, but sometimes people just forget. There is usually some tenderness for a few days. The color is much darker than you may expect for the first 7-10 days.
