Even with all differences between permanent makeup or micropigmentation and tattooing, the State of Tennessee still recognizes the micropigmentation (or permanent make-up) technician as a tattoo artist. In both cases, the apprenticeship for at least one (1) year is absolutely mandatory. The student can be apprentice at some tattoo shop or work on the field performing permanent makeup or micropigmentation on live models under supervision as explained above.
It is very important to consider the work quality of the artist or parlor where the apprentice will be getting permanent makeup or micropigmentation done. The best way to go is to learn from an artist with knowledge and good reputation.
