Although Bea Robinson cannot say who won the season eighteen series of
“The Blox” that finished filming in August of 2024, she can say that each of the
110 contestants came home a winner because of the invaluable coaching and
mentoring she and the others received while filming the show.
“The Blox” reality web TV show is often described as a mix of “Shark Tank” and
“The Apprentice,” filmed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, organized by Beta Blox and
hosted by actor and reality star Wes Bergmann.
Most importantly for Bea Robinson, was the opportunity of a lifetime to attend a
business incubator program, meet other small business owners and be
mentored by multimillionaire already successful business owners from different
parts of America.
Bea Robinson, founder and owner of Smart Touch Skin Solutions, a permanent
makeup and medical tattoo studio located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was
cast to be on The Blox (eighteenth season).
From twenty thousand applicants, 110 entrepreneurs were chosen to be in a
seven day boot camp. “We were there to learn, not to win, We are all winners already!”
said Robinson.
The business, over 12 years old, grew out of another business from Brazil. It
was possible to bring experience from another country, but the clients were left
behind and business had to start literally from scratch.
“I was doing great in my town, but in the meantime I met my husband online.
After a year he proposed so I decided do come to America to live with him. I
started my business in Murfreesboro without knowing one single soul and here I
am, 12 years later living the DREAM!”
She did, however, get a little help from great people who would promote her
business just out of love and kindness, but they were exceptions.
“I always wanted to help people and also do art. Most women don ́t have the
resources to get a face lift, but they can invest on brows, eyeliner and lips and
wake up literally ready to leave the house. They can feel pretty full time without
the hassle of applying makeup every single day. Some clients already in advanced
age really struggle with shaking hands, impaired vision and inevitable smudges.
If they don ́t need to deal with their own limitations, that is really a WIN situation
and quality of life in disguise” she said.
On Monday, Robinson returned from a nonstop week in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and
on Wednesday she was still bubbling over with excitement as she talked about
her experience.
“It was the best incubator program in the world, and yeah, you’re there
competing to win, but on the first day you realize the competition is just what
gets people to watch the show,” Robinson said. “It didn’t matter who wins; what
matters is what you take away from there, the connections made with other
business owners from all over the country, plus getting personally coached by
successful millionaire business owners.
“They tell you how to grow your business, what you’re doing wrong, what you’re
doing right and what to do differently so you’ll grow,” she said.
She also said some of the mentors had actually researched her business and
were interested to know more about it.
“They knew who I was!” she said. “I got so much validation from being there.
Plus, it was like a crash MBA course without traditional learning. Not cheap but
worth it!”
She said her biggest takeaway was realizing the value of her business was
more than what is in her bank account, which has always been her benchmark
for what she considered success or value. She learned that her life experience
and overcoming hardships added to her value as a business owner.
“A lot of people in Murfreesboro know I went through a really tough time trying
to adapt to a totally new situation. Moving to another country and leaving
everything behind including family and friends is not for the weak, and when I
came through that, there were a lot of doors closed for me because I wasn ́t
american,” she said. “So I had to work harder than the average person to prove
my worth over the years.
