The Five-Day Gift (5): How One Tennessee Artist is Giving Women Back 120 Hours a Year
After 25 years perfecting her craft and competing on national television, Bea Robinson has built a permanent makeup practice that’s about far more than cosmetics
The Five Day Gift (5): Every morning, millions of women stand at the mirror, brush in hand, repeating the same ritual they’ve performed for decades. Fifteen minutes here, twenty minutes there. But Bea Robinson has done the math: those minutes add up to 120 hours annually—almost five full days lost to the simple act of drawing on the face you’ll wear to the world.
For Robinson, founder of Smart Touch Skin Solutions, the solution isn’t about vanity. It’s about reclaiming time itself.
Since opening her Murfreesboro studio in 2013, Robinson has built a practice that challenges the conventional understanding of what permanent makeup can be. This isn’t about chasing trends or creating Instagram-ready looks. It’s about giving women—particularly those over 50—something far more valuable than perfect brows: freedom.
From International Training to Tennessee Excellence
Robinson’s journey to becoming a licensed and certified micropigmentation practitioner, instructor, and craft master didn’t follow a typical path. After acquiring clinical certification and experience overseas, she brought her expertise to Tennessee, where she’s become a specialist in both cosmetic and paramedical dermopigmentation industry. The distinction matters. While many practitioners focus solely on beauty applications, Robinson has devoted her career to procedures that genuinely transform lives and has the power of making women feel whole again through her Pro Bono Fund created 20 years ago in 2006. “Every paying client contributes and this is how we can give something valuable back to the community”- explains Robinson. Over 400 jobs after, Bea Robinson continues to help Breast Cancer Survivors for almost 2 decades.
Her work includes re-pigmentation of breast areolas following post breast cancer reconstruction, scar camouflaging, and treatment for vitiligo—a skin condition that causes loss of pigmentation on skin. These aren’t cosmetic enhancements. They’re acts of restoration and love!.
Over 26 years in the field, Robinson has accumulated 17 awards, but perhaps her most notable recent achievement came when she competed on THE BLOX season 18 in 2024. From a pool of over 20,000 applicants, only 110 business owners made it into the competition—a format that blends elements of “The Apprentice” and “Shark Tank” Reality Shows. The experience put her business acumen on display alongside her artistic skill.
The Mathematics of Beauty
Robinson’s clients often describe the same revelation: “It feels like I’ve added an extra hour to my morning, every day.” And while the permanent cosmetics and medical tattooing services she provides certainly deliver aesthetic results—perfectly defined brows, softly tinted lips, fine eyeliner that never smudges—the real product she’s selling is time.
Consider the calculation. Between 15 and 25 minutes each morning, multiplied across a year, equals 120 hours. That’s time that could become a quiet morning coffee, an extra hour of sleep, or a walk before the day accelerates into its usual routine and chaos.
For women juggling family, travel, grandchildren, and new passions after 50, that reclaimed time isn’t trivial. It’s transformative.
“That time doesn’t just vanish, Robinson explains about her client´s experience vanish,” Robinson explains about her clients’ experience. “It comes back to you as something greater.”
Beyond the Mirror
What distinguishes Robinson’s practice is the dual nature of her work. On one hand, there are the daily conveniences: waking up with definition and color that survives weather, workouts, and long days. On the other, there are the profound interventions—helping a breast cancer survivor feel whole again, giving someone with visible scarring the confidence to stop hiding.
As a certified micropigmentation trainer herself, Robinson understands the technical precision required. Permanent makeup is exactly what it sounds like: permanent. The artistry lies not in following fleeting trends but in creating subtle, natural results that will serve clients for years to come.
This philosophy has served her well in building a practice that’s thrived for over a decade in Murfreesboro, attracting clients who seek not just skill but wisdom—the kind that comes from 26 years of devoted practice.
In an industry often focused on the latest technique or newest technology, Smart Touch Skin Solutions offers something increasingly rare: mastery. And for the women who walk into Robinson’s studio, that mastery translates into something beautifully simple—the gift of time, and the confidence to spend it well.
